The purpose of this fraud job role is to carry out fraud investigations to detect and prevent fraud or abuse. This could be within the civil service or within a bank analysing accounts and savings accounts. The role of a financial fraud analyst would include involve supporting fraud investigators in the preparation of evidence, information collection, planning and analysis. Some fraud analysts would be expected to analyse some complex data and prepare detailed reports. These candidates would most likely earn towards the higher end of the expected salary.
A good audit, banking or financial investigations background would be ideal as you be expected to analyse quite a lot of financial data. Excellent communication, investigation and computer skills are essential. Previous experience in fraud, audits or similar would be beneficial.
Proven experience in MS Excel, MS Access and other analytical software tools (such as SAS) would be beneficial. Sometimes other specific software might be required and this could be company or industry specific. Some employers would expect a numerate degree or equivalent.
£25,000 - £33,000 but can be higher in a competitive market.
