The purpose of this type of role is to detect, prevent financial crime and prevent losses by monitoring customers' activity. You would be required to investigate high risk or suspicious activity, fraud crime referrals, disputes and suspicious activity by making enquiries, monitoring patterns and trends and gathering evidence. This is likely to include specialist investigation into the financial crime background of offenders to establish levels of benefit from crime and might include seizing cash under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Applicants for this type of role would have previous experience of working within fraud prevention and have knowledge of financial crime, including crime regulations and the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA). Excellent communication skills are essential along with attention to detail and good problem solving/enquiring skills. Good time management and organisation skills.
For a job as a financial crime investigator it would be advantageous to have an appropriate degree with a high statistical and analytical content, as well as experience in analysing and interpreting complex data sets.
£15,000 - £31,000 but can be higher in a competitive market.
