FRAUDSTERS are continuing to plague Kingston Communications' customers –threatening subscribers with being cut off so they can steal credit card details.
Some of the tricksters are so determined they ring customers back again and again, sometimes refusing to hang up to keep the line open, making it sound as if the customer really has been disconnected.
Yesterday, Richard Griffiths, head of consumer sales and marketing, issued a warning to customers that hoax calls were continuing to be a problem.
He said: "There have been a number of recent instances where people have received calls from someone pretending to be from our credit control department asking them to pay an overdue bill, by providing their credit card details over the phone, to avoid being cut off."
Kingston Communications' customers should be aware that we will never ask a customer to provide us with their credit card details over the telephone. We only accept payments from debit and credit cards via our secure, automated card payment line."
He urged customers to hang up on anyone claiming to be from the company asking for bank and card details over the phone.
